Peer Education

NAMI Brown County offers free classes throughout the year for those living with mental health conditions. Classes are taught by trained mentors who are successfully managing their own conditions. The classes cover a wide range of topics related to mental health and are designed to assist individuals in reaching and maintaining mental wellness. Much of NAMI Brown County’s peer education is geared to tapping into resiliency factors in order to provide individuals with a wide range of tools, information, skills and connections to enhance their ability to be successful in managing their mental health condition.

Peer-to-Peer is a free, 8-session class for any adult individual living with a mental health condition. The program offers a relaxed, trusting, and safe environment for participants to learn about mental illness, strategies for self-care, healthy relationships, and positive coping skills. This structured course is taught by a team of trained instructors who are successfully managing their own mental health conditions.

In the program, participants will:

  • Share experiences with peers who also are working toward mental health recovery
  • Gain further insight into mental illness
  • Gain knowledge of how to manage and cope with circumstances
  • Learn to identify feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and events that can result in a possible relapse
  • Learn how to be an active participant in any treatment plan
  • Learn how to strengthen interpersonal relationships

Space is limited and registration is required.

Our next Peer-to-Peer class will begin in September. A registration link will be shared here closer to that time.
